Less of Me

There will soon be a little less of me. I'm kissing my gall bladder and releasing it to the wild where it can roam with it's own kind.

I had a HIDA scan on Tuesday and today I got the news that I have a non-functioning gallbladder. I have a surgery consult on Tuesday afternoon and an economy sized bottle of pain pills to hold me over until then. I'll be spending the weekend stoned and worthless. Who says there's not an upside to having diseased organs?

I've heard the gall bladder is over-rated anyway. You won't even miss it ;)

So sorry, I know how much you loved it! I;m sure you will be fine!

Hey, will this be done endoscopically? (I think that's what they call it these days.)

I am pretty sure it's laparoscopic. Apparently they go in and fill the abdomen with air for work space so I'll fart like a mule getting that gas out of me.

Anyone want to come be a nursemaid to a farting mule?

It's laparoscopic. You will have three little holes in your belly, leaving three little scars.

But the best, best, BEST thing is that there will be NO MORE PAIN from that darn thing!

Wishing you the best. I actually begged for my surgery date, when the scheduler first put it two weeks out! I must have been pitiful because they let me have it in two days instead.

Good luck..... enjoy the meds! You gonna bring it home and bury it next to a tree? Just asking.

Shit. Well. I hear people lose a lot of weight after gall bladder surgery. Not that you need to. But who would pass up some bonus pound loss?
